Enceladus

A ball of ice

encapsulating surprises under its surface

Enceladus

238,000 kilometers (148,000 miles) away from Saturn, Enceladus offers a unique experience for travelers.

While it takes its name from a giant, it is relatively small — about 500 kilometers (310 miles) across.

It can be -201°C (-330°F) on the surface, so make sure to bring the right equipment.

There are icy water eruptions, water jets, that makes an amazing sight and an enjoyable experience for Enceladus travelers that can rival those of an amusement park.

Take a look at what this world with an ocean of liquid water under its shell might have to offer.

Attractions

The South Polar Plume

The first place to go on Enceladus should definitely be the South Pole region. See one of the most beautiful sights, fly through the plume, it sure will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The water jets come from the “tiger stripes,” and are mostly water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, and other gases like ammonia and nitrogen, also forming Saturn's E ring.

Baghdad Sulcus

In the south polar region, don't miss the Baghdad Sulcus, the most popular fracture around.

Damascus Sulcus

Another interesting fracture is the Damascus Sulcus, a tiger stripe responsible for the beautiful water jets of Enceladus.

The Snowman

When you feel like you have seen all the plume has to offer and decide to go towards the opposite direction, the northern latitudes, don't miss a chance to see the trio of craters that resemble a snowman, a feature very fitting for Enceladus.

Fractures

Be careful while viewing the craters at the north, there are fractures on the surface that you should be looking out for, but still makes an amazing sight.
